It would seem the impending depression and record unemployment is not effecting the federal government. “The government’s 2009 hiring needs have been reported: 193,000 mission-critical jobs need must be filled over the next two years,” reports Military.com. “Enforcement & Investigation” is the largest out of five categories in need of new employees.

“Security officers patrol and inspect property to protect against fire, theft, vandalism, terrorism, and illegal activity. They also interview witnesses or victims, prepare case reports, and testify in court,” explains GovCentral. “Law Enforcement Officers, Federal Agents and Detectives usually specialize in investigating one type of violation, such as homicide or fraud. Daily activities differ depending on occupational specialties – such as police officer, game warden, or detective – and whether they are working for a local, State or Federal agency.” These include border patrol agents, immigration inspectors, federal air marshals, and Secret Service agents.
Obviously, the deteriorating economy is good business for the the ever-expanding federal government. How long before most of us will be working for Uncle Sam?
Of course, more “security officers” means more government intrusion into your private life. It will also mean more fines, more taxes, and more people locked up in federal prisons.
