Krauthammer, Barnes Demand Unconstitutional Indefinite Detention

Charles Krauthammer and Fred Barnes call for Democrats to enact an indefinite detention bill.
Mass murder signatory and incessant neocon propagandist Charles Krauthammer went on Fox News the other day and called for Democrats to pass an indefinite detention bill. Charlie thinks the Democrats are wimps on terrorism and essentially declared they have a soft spot in their hearts for KSM and other “miscreants” (as he called them) held at the Guantanamo Bay concentration camp and torture dungeon. No court of law has yet to rule that miscreants or anything else are held at Gitmo, but that doesn’t bother Krauthammer.
Democrats will not close Camp Gitmo, as promised, because they actually run nothing. If the shadow government and the CIA want to kidnap and torture dirt farmers and sheep herders they will do so without the permission of the American people.
Fred Barnes, editor of the neocon fount the Weekly Standard, chimed in and said the detainees at Gitmo are treated rather nicely compared to those interned in other prisons around the world. Barnes neglected to mention that the detainees at Gitmo have never been convicted of a crime and suffer conditions worse than those reserved for the most dangerous, convicted criminals in the United States.

“Unlike prisoners – including convicted terrorists – in most ’supermax’ prisons in the United States, none of the Guantanamo detainees have been allowed visits by family members and very few have been able to make phone calls home. Several are reportedly suffering depression and anxiety disorder, and some have reported having visions and hearing voices. Requests by attorneys for outside psychiatric evaluations and improvements in conditions of confinement have generally gone unanswered,” Human Rights Watch reported on June 10, 2008.

Many of Krauthammer’s “miscreants” in fact are not guilty of anything except being Muslim, apparently a crime in and of itself. “Many of the prisoners were sold into captivity and subjected to brutal treatment in U.S. prison camps in Afghanistan. Once in Guantanamo, prisoners were denied access to civilian courts to challenge the legality of their detention,” notes the UC Berkeley Human Rights Center and International Human Rights Law Clinic.

“Guantanamo, like Abu Ghraib, has become a stain on the reputation of the United States,” said Eric Stover, director of the UC Berkeley Human Rights Center and co-author of “Guantanamo and Its Aftermath.” Krauthammer wants to pass this stain on to the Democrats, who will obligingly carry on.
As for Krauthammer’s assertion that indefinite detention should be codified in law and passed by Democrats, this is unnecessary. In 2007, Bush signed NSPD-51 and NSPD-20, directives that unconstitutionally allow the president to detain anybody he wants under a national emergency. KBR subsequently penned a contract with the Army Corp of Engineers to build detention camps, allegedly for illegal immigrants and “criminals or terrorists,” as Jamie Zuieback of ICE told Jerome R. Corsi.
Since the government is doing absolutely nothing about the influx of illegal immigrants and indeed is encouraging illegal immigration to undermine American workers, we can only assume NSPD-51 is designed for “criminals or terrorists.”
In addition, Bush (or coming soon, Obama) has public law 109-364, or the “John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007″ (H.R.5122), at his disposal. It allows the anointed one to declare a “public emergency” and station troops anywhere in America and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of the governor or local authorities, in order to “suppress public disorder,” as Frank Morales has noted. Warner complements the Military Commissions Act of 2006 .

If Congress indeed passes a bill to detain “miscreants” indefinitely, it will not be used primarily to illegally imprison kidnapped Afghans or even illegal aliens for that matter, but Americans. Bush’s martial law bills have nothing to do with natural disasters or biological terrorist attacks.
On the Alex Jones Show a few weeks ago, futurist Gerald Celente of the Trends Research Institute said in the not too distant future the United States will experience tax rebellions and possible revolution as the bankster plan to turn the country into a third world cesspool takes its toll.
No doubt the recent martial law bills were crafted to address this inevitability, even if the incorrigible Muslim hater Charles Krauthammer realizes it or not. The “miscreants” will be you and me, not Afghan sheep herders or taxi cab drivers kidnapped off the streets of Kabul.
