On businessnews they sum up all all kinds of reasons for this strange contrary development, except but one......that is that speculators have been scared and that Angela Merkel's ban on speculation/ short-selling is actually working. But all traders and people here also are against this and try to distract from specualtion as to make it looklike it's the deficit / debt problem, the Greek mess.The reality is that Greece would never have been in troubles like this without speculation, that's a fact. Speculation on currencies, insurances against the burning of the house of the next neighbor and maybe spreading some fuel in the neighbor's house to reap profit after making fire, that'ss not making a healthy society and economy!! That's what it is!!Whatever all these media people are saying or allowed to say, fact is the Euro went up suddenly, gold dropping, meaning a real strenghtening, thanks to Angela Merkel!If just everybody would join her....only Austria calls for a global ban on speculation and short-selling, but says it's only working if the US/ UK do that too. In Hong Kong i heard the same.

Because of the end of short-selling in Germany you see the euro strenghtening for 3 days, although it just fell a litte bit back, but gold is dropping. Well, gold never moves actually, but the Euro appreciates. THe dollar will also get a new downward cycle against other currencies and then you see that the Dollar drops verses gold.( gold rising...supposedy)If you have more paper money into circulation without an equal rate of production increases,the currency devalues and so you pay more paper notes for the same bar, once, or kilo of gold. ( or ETF for that matter
