Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A national pro-life organization says James Lee, the population control activist Maryland police shot and killed Wednesday afternoon at the offices of the Discovery Channel, confronted the group during a protest it held at a local Planned Parenthood abortion business.
Lee has been protesting the cable channel for years because he said it was not doing enough to promote population control.
But Lee also appears in a series of videos the pro-life group American Life League took of it protesting at the Planned Parenthood center. Lee tells pro-life activists that more abortions need to happen because more babies would contribute to the "overpopulation" problem.
"You can't say that we can breed as many children as we want," the man in the video, who looks like Lee, says. "You can't just say we gotta fill the earth, have all these children and never mind all the other creatures."
Katie Walker, an ALL spokeswoman, says she is certain the man in the video is Lee.
"That's the guy," she said. "We'll never forget that guy" and added that, given his pro-population control views, "it made sense that he would take umbrage with our event."
"He had just an overwhelming disdain for human beings and he did not associate himself with human beings. He always used the pronoun 'you,'" she said. "He always made the distinction, 'you human beings.' It was almost like he didn't connect or associate at all."
Walker says Lee participated in the national event called "The Pill Kills" day that took place on June 6, 2009.

She talked more about the Lee appearance with the Creative Minority Report blog.
"During the Washington DC events for the day - which took place at the Planned Parenthood on 16th St. - an Asian man wearing a khaki/brown hat and coat stuck a flip cam in three of our faces and started arguing with us about abortion and population control. He later uploaded the video he made to YouTube under the name "Dcprotests." His youtube profile says he is 43 years old," she explained.
"I looked this man in the face and argued with him. It's the same guy," Walker added.
Walker said ALL gave the videos to Montgomery County police to help them with their investigation.
Police had been in negotiations with Lee for hours and witnesses on the scene heard popping devices that officials worried were some kind of explosive.
"He was wearing what appear to be metallic canister devices on his front and back. He also pulled out a handgun and was waving the handgun around," Manger said about Lee, who burst into the building about 1:00 p.m. local time.
Lee, 43, was arrested in 2008 for disorderly conduct concerning his protests at the Discovery Channel.

Lee is the creator of a web site that touts population control philosophies --advocated by some abortion proponents who claim the Earth is overpopulated and policies such as legalized abortion or, as is the case in China, ensuring families have limits on the number of children they can have are needed to reduce population levels.
Despite the claims of overpopulation, the latest stats from the CDC show the birth rate in the United States is under the replacement rate with 52 million abortions since 1973 and more than 1.2 million taking place every year.
With the National Center for Health Statistics showing the birth rate falling two percent in 2008, and below the replacement rate level of 2.1 children per woman, the U.S. doesn't have the overpopulation concerns some clam.
"The 2008 preliminary estimate of the total fertility rate (TFR) was 2,085.5 births per 1,000 women, 2 percent lower than the rate in 2007 (2,122.5),” the report indicated.
