They like to pretend they don't know that white women get the lion's share of welfare. Every black single mother I know is in school or working or doing both. They are taking care of their children and still finding time to pick up the slack left behind daddy.

Bill O'Reilly has said some very harsh things about the African American people lately. Why does the network keep putting up with this mess? Oh yes, I just remembered, it's a racist network! Duh! I am sick of the race baiting articles. Why do the Caucasian Americans continue to spew racist rhetoric on a daily basis and think we are just going to except it? There are many issues within their own communities that they need to deal with. Clean your own back yard before you go digging around in mine.

O'Reilly is a known racist and hate monger. He hates Black folks. Let's accept him for who he is and disregard him as we do the klan. There is no reason to argue or listen to anything he has to say. He's irrelevant to us and should be treated as such

Bill O rielly is a bully. Ever notice when he does not like what you are saying, he talks over you? or tries to get you out of there? Some people on here do that. lol. They are truly tragic. When people like Billio do this, you know you have them beat. You got to them and they can't control themselves. Making immature, degrading remarks about people they don't personally know. To easy. smh

I am sure you are a troll-anyone w/sense would know that when bill clinton was in office-he put the brakes on most welfare programs. As far as food stamps/Section/free phone (which came out in the 90s) I would bet there are more males (head of household) & whites getting these. I guess you do not know that corporate welfare is the "big one". Now they are the real ones that are doing fine & the gov't. pays them well. So take that BS on some other site-since you want to make AA (is that Alcoholic Anonymous?) look bad.

White conservatives, along with minorities who look up to them, will constantly point out what's wrong with the black community. But you will never....NEVER.....see or hear a white Republican politician or commentator (such as O'Reilly, Beck, Hannity, or Limbaugh), call out poor and working class whites (who are the primary Republican voters against their own economic interest) on their very high welfare and out of wedlock birth rates, and rampant meth use.

Okay, hold up----my mother had both me and my brother out of wedlock (not something she planned) over 40 years ago, and she not only went on to better herself whole working full-time while raising both of us plus my sister (and telling us both to stay in school and become somebody) she eventually got a master's degree in social work and became a social worker. It took 5 years to do that, and it wasn't the least bit easy--it was a major struggle for her ,too. She did this while going through a divorce, having to go on assistance because even after graduating with her bachelor's degree, it was still difficult for her to find a job (which she eventually did.)
Point being that automatically being a black single mother does NOT mean that you are going to be poor and miserable and be stuck on welfare. Especially if you have a support system of family and friends around to help you through the hard times.. That's just some BS that the right-wing likes to spread around. Why the hell don't they talk about out of wedlock rates in red states like Texas, which has one of the highest in the country? O' Reilly needs to shut the hell up and go lecture to their Govenor Rick Perry about what the hell is going on with THAT for a change.
And f*** O'Reilly---he's just a racist loudmouth FOX News tool whose arrogance knows no bounds---I stopped caring or listening what he has to say years ago.

Blacks don't force white single mother to have more kids..but they do..its not a personal thing..Its all the media..and racial tension that has gone wrong over the years..I'm sure when his mother had him..she knew he was going to make it big...but people black and white has problems in these world..I'm sure his mother has some appoint feelings about him..ESPECIALLY NOW.I see that he he has to go after Blacks and there children to get white ratings...I use to like him..but now he is just another news man trying to make a buck. I had three children out of wedlock and it was a personal thing it was LOVE..AND I'M VERY PROUD OF THEM TOO.

She was married to my stepdad--they were going thru the divorce while she was trying get back to school. I also didn't say that every black women should take that path. My main point was that every single black mother dosen't chose to be single by choice, and that just because a child is raised by a single mother isn't a guarantee that that child is automatically going to be messed up. I'm tired of seeing that myth spread, and I'm tired of single mothers getting all the damn ills of the community being dumped/blamed on them,as if single father don't also bear some responsibility in this, too. Especially because I've known kids from households who grew up in two-parent homes and STILL had issues/problems--my point being that whether you grow up in a one or two-parents isn't always a guarantee on how you'll turn out as a person.
I'll also ignore that little dig you made at me at the end---don't think I didn't pick up on that, and hell, yeah, I'm intelligent--I got it from my mother--you obviously didn't get any from anyone anywhere.

The problem is people tend to state things as a cause and effect instead of correlations. Growing up in poverty does not mean you will be uneducated. Growing up in poverty however does correlate to a lower education level. To help or impact the most people then you want to give them the best opportunity to be successful but I am touched by your mother's story. I personally feel like trying to blame black women for having children out of wedlock is completely wrong because there are so many factors. Factors like African american males and their issues whether caused by internalized oppression or not, a marriage just not working out, the deliberate tools used by the system to encourage a separated black family, or even the societal issues we notice among all races in the US the lead to divorce and single women. What is important though is that we educate our youth especially our African American young women and explain how the system puts these laws and tools in existence that seem completely beneficial but can have a negative effect. Everyone gets mad at our youth for perpetuating internalized oppression but people rarely take the time to educate them on their history and the wicked ways of this systemic oppression because of this false belief that times have changed. Sometimes I do college planning consultant work for high schools and I have heard African american youth, although I here it from other races as well I'm not worried about them as much as my race, state that for their career or future they wanted to get pregnant and live off welfare because their sister or mom did it and they living okay. That is so disheartening to hear because they don't even understand it's a trap to be stuck in the lower class and live a life low in expectations and high in short-term decision making. So I'm not putting down anyone who worked hard and used public services for what they are meant to be used for I'm just simply stating that it kinda has gotten out of hand now the that people not only blacks tend to see it as a great way to live life.

Thank you! And I do agree with the majority of what you said---what makes me mad about the welfare situation is that the people scamming the system make it harder to get for he people who really DO need it. Also, where I am,people getting kicked of the welfare rolls after five years--which is a good thing, except for the fact that unemployment is extremely high in the area and public transportation, especially if you don't have a car is unreliable at times. Good on you for doing what you do---keep on doing it,because it is sorely needed--especially for youth who don't feel they have the options to go on to college.. And tell those youth that told you that silly stuff that living off welfare is a dead end if you have no goals other then to be on it--plus welfare rules have really tightened up since Clinton started welfare-to-work back in the day. The days of several generations living on welfare are a thing of the past, and I've never heard of anybody getting rich being on it. Encourage them to go to school, so that they will get more options out of life---living on welfare is not a career OR a future for anybody, and those silly teens need to know that.

That's the truth! The youth really DO need to be schooled about that, most definitely.

Another thing that seems to be a reoccurring theme is the misrepresentation of numerical data by white people in an effort to prove an argument in an objective manner. Never do they acknowledge the factors that cause this data or conjure up a solution besides one that focuses on the downfalls of people of color caused by internalized oppression. They are scared to acknowledge that maybe if racism and oppression was non existent then the data would be different. They never discuss the correlations within data when it's centered around race. They will be quick to state that being impoverished correlates to a lower education level but if you say that being a person who experiences oppression correlates to poverty, lower education, and lack of opportunity they act like it doesn't make sense. They don't want to admit the benefit of white privilege and how being a person of color makes you endure many more obstacle than they face. If they did then they would have to acknowledge that the statistical data is a misrepresentation of the potential optimal level people of color can reach. I think they know this though because every time an African American receives some of the resources white people receive they excel. It's not just a coincidence that when a black man was allowed to receive a good education and opportunity in politics he became a president. They forget that black people have only been able to vote for about 35 year regardless of what the law says because if you say I can vote but then turn around and put barriers in place and a threat of physical violence then you basically implying I can't vote.

The issue of women being the only provider in American households transcends race. Unfortunately, Blacks are always targeted and serve as the "scapegoats." Believe me plenty white and Hispanic mothers have "baby daddies."

This writer was right on point, and it should have not been hard to understand. I watched
Bill O'Reilly everyday last week. He had a black guess on his show each night trying to get one of them to agree with him that lil' Wayne was debasing the black community with his music, and black women having babies out of wedlock drives poverty in the black community. He did not get one of them to agree with him. Basically they all said that the cycle of black poverty is driven by no jobs, under resourced schools, and mass incarceration
of black men. Bill O would not accept their reasons, and their reasons was the truth. To minimize black poverty we need unemployment rate to drop greatly, improve the educational attainment for black male students, and eliminate the disparity of drug sentence toward black males. Bill O need to worry about his own people. He need to have a talking point about how to stop white men from murdering their wives for insurance money.
