News in Early January of 2023.

Attorney General Merrick Garland made an announcement to oversee the Biden documents investigation. Garland chooses former U.S. attorney Robert Hur to lead the probe into the handling of the documents from when Biden was vice President. This is only fair, legal, and right. No one is below the law, and no one is above the law. The classified files were found in Biden's private office in Washington, D.C., and in his home in Delaware. With the 2024 Presidential election coming up, he faces a major investigation. Republicans are coming in to exploit this situation to promote the lie that Trump's classified documents scandal is equivalent to the Biden one. The truth is that Biden was more transparent, and Trump fought legal subpoenas in trying to prevent the classified documents to be sent back to the federal government. In fact, Donald Trump continued to justify keeping classified documents in his own home at Florida. The federal government had to use authorities to execute a legal search warrant to retrieve the documents. It is inappropriate and wrong for any classified documents to be in a home.

Michael S. Schmidt's new book entitled, "Donald Trump v. The United States: Inside the Struggle to Stop a President," outlined new revelations about the extremism and bigotry of former President Donald Trump. Schmidt uses documents and research to document how General Kelly used tactics to prevent a nuclear war between North Korea and America. The book documents Trump's love of authoritarian rulers in the world, and rivalries in the Trump administration. The book shows the contentious relationships between John Kelly and Donald Trump. The ultimate point is that America was so close to disaster that it is a miracle that our American democracy still stands. Terrorists at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021 almost destroyed American society as we know it. We have to use great vigilance, insights, strength, and courage to contribute our gifts and our talents to make the world better. That precept is our life's work.

Many Republicans and Democrats have called on George Santos to either face an investigation over his lies or resign from his public office. Most people would never get away with lying over basic personal information in order to get into public office. Yet, George Santos is a member of the House after telling multiple lies about his religious faith, job history, and activism. The Nassau County GOP calls for Santos to resign. Now, two House Democrats have already filed an ethics complaint against him. These human beings are Reps. Ritchie Torres and Daniel Goldman. They want Santos to be investigated for violations of the Ethics in Government Act by failing to file timely, accurate, and complete financial disclosure reports as required by law. The lesson here is no one should lie on their resume, regardless of the job. Especially, folks should not lie on his or her resume involving the political office.

The GOP is now launching an inquiry into the weaponization of government. The panel is expected to be headed by Rep. Jim Jordan. Jordan wants huge authority, and Democratic House members are fighting back against this GOP far-right plan. Many Republicans believe in the myth that far-right fascists like Donald Trump is being persecuted by the federal government. Donald Trump violated subpoenas and refused to turn over classified documents until the federal government intervened. In contrast, President Biden immediately gave classified documents to the proper authorities. Trump promoted the lie that the 2020 election was stolen, and Trump passed a Muslim ban violating basic human rights. People like Jordan want to investigate law enforcement agencies that investigate many MAGA people. MAGA terrorists harmed people at the US Capitol on January 6th, 2021, and people have the right to make that known.
