Two Years After the January 6th Insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

Today is the 2nd year after the January 6th insurrection. It was one of the worst times in American history where terrorists tried to overthrow the United States government literally. That was the first time in American history that there was no peaceful transfer of power from one President to another President. These terrorists had weapons including guns in D.C. For months before the attacks, far right extremists used social media and other forums to desire an attack at D.C. over the defeat of Trump after the 2020 election. The terrorists flown Confederate and Neo-Nazi flags, cursed at U.S. Capitol police officers (which exposed their hypocrisy of claiming to respect the police and the law when they tried to kill the police at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th). These insurrectionists desecrated the Capitol grounds in vulgar ways, threatened to hang Mike Pence, and Trump did nothing to stop this for hours. The Mayor of D.C. and other federal government authorities practically begged Trump to send in the National Guard and other forces ASAP. Trump, in fact, wants to pardon the terrorists. Trump said that he wanted to overthrow the election results and even the Constitution in order to steal the 2020 election. So, Trump and the terrorists involved on January 6th are traitors to America. More than 950 people have been arrested for the insurrection at the U.S. Capitrol. The January 6th House Committee presented more than enough evidence for Trump and his acolytes to be charged with many federal crimes. So, we remember that time in order to have vigilance against tyranny.

Some good news is that Damar Hamlin has made great improvements after his cardiac arrest. The medical team said that he is improving a lot and the long road to recovery starts now. The Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is able to communicate by shaking his head, nodding, and writing brief notes. Hamlin's mind was still on the game as he wrote "Did we win?" The doctor told him that he did win the game of life. Cardiac arrest is no joke. It can happen to anyone given certain circumstances. It can be caused by heart disease, a traumatic hit, or other reasons. The University of Cincinnati Health did an excellent job in saving the life of Hamlin along with the people who did CPR on Hamlin at the football stadium in Cincinnati. Heroes are more than those that we read in books or watch on television. Many heroes are very unsung and desire no fanfare or massive ego boosts. They are just doing their jobs in everyday life.

Many people are criticizing Skip Bayless over his tweet about Damar Hamlin. Skip Bayless was wrong to tweet about the football game postponement implications when a man is fighting for his life extremely early. Football is insignificant when a man is suffering cardiac arrest and needs the support of humanity. We know about Skip Bayless. We know that back in the day, he falsely promoted inaccurate rumors about Troy Aikman. He has an obsession to criticize LeBron James. I consider Michael Jordan to be the GOAT, but Skip Bayless's name-calling and overt disrespect of LeBron James is truly wrong in my view. Many people, including Terrell Owens, have criticized Bayless's tweet about Hamlin too. The paradox of Skip Bayless is that he wants to talk about black athletes in any way that he desires, but he can't stand anyone critiquing Tom Brady. We don't live in a colorblind society, and people need to realize that. The only solution is to eliminate the structures of racism and make justice a reality. That justice, as black people, is our birthright.

Republicans continue to have their form of House chaos. Kevin McCarthy lost his fight to be the House Majority Leader a total of eleven times. McCarthy has cursed and yelled at his Republican colleagues. Republicans in the House are arguing with each other, and the far-right refuses to support McCarthy. As Abraham Lincoln said, a kingdom divided shall not stand. The divisions in the Republican Party are far more extensive than what some have imagined. The House has adjourned until 9 pm. EST. The stalemate over shall be the Republican House leader continues. This is unprecedented in American history. A nominee needs 218 votes, but the number can change if members withhold their votes. The House can't start the new Congress or swear in new members until a speaker is elected. The Washington Post has reported that Special Counsel Robert Jack will continue to investigate if Trump is charged with criminal actions involving the election of 2020 and/or the insurrection of January 6, 2021. The Special Counsel investigation has tons of research from the House January 6 Committee hearing, including other unforeseen evidence that much of the general public doesn't know about. Trump-related probes are nationwide from New York state to Georgia (with the political leader Willis).

Some sad news is that Eric Mumford passed away from an illness at the age of 71 years old. He is married to his wife Judge Lynn Toler. Judge Lynn Toler is 61 years old and had the show of Divorce Court as an arbitrator for years. The couple was married for 33 years. Judge Lynn Toler has always been fair and balanced as a judge and has shown advice in relationships. There are many gurus, but Toler was the real deal. Being married for over three decades makes Toler perfectly qualified in giving advice on relationships and forming long-lasting, positive marriages. Mumford was a family man, a father, and a husband to a great woman. Eric Mumford and Lynn Toler loved each other unconditionally. Their relationship is a shining example of how a real marriage will work now and for future generations.

Rest in Power Brother Eric Mumford.
