The New Hampshire primary has shown a Trump victory. Many Independents and Democrats voted in the Primary. The Republican candidate Nikki Haley gave a speech in New Hampshire desiring to continue in the race. Haley wants to campaign in her home state of South Carolina in presenting her views. Nikki Haley is a conservative Republican who have many views similar to Trump. She also has some disagreements with Trump as well. Haley said that she is the only candidate who can defeat Biden in the 2024 Presidential race. Trump made remarks about Haley questioning her birthplace which was offensive. Haley made the offensive remark that America was never a racist nation. Those, who know history, realize that America's history was filled with racism from slavery to the Jim Crow rules along with the Chinese Exclusion Act. Trump made the false statement that he won New Hampshire in 2016 and 2020 during their Presidential election dates. The Republican's problem is that the MAGA cult has been so pro-Trump that they will submit to his extremism at any cost. Biden's issue is that many in his base disagree with his views on the Gaza conflict wanting a ceasefire. Not to mention that many of us (who are African Americans) don't want to be taken for granted. President Biden is in a new era of his Presidency. One lesson out of life is to never underestimate anyone. Our democracy is in a fragile state at this moment in world history. Regardless, people should vote for democracy as taking a stand against authoritarianism and fascism.
There is a Kentucky bill that wants to criminalize homelessness. It's called House Bill 5 or "Safe Kentucky Act." It allows the police to arrest people camping in public areas, sleeping in their cars or trying to survive in the elements. The bill seeks to expand Kentucky's Stand Your Gound law by allowing property and business owners to confront with a gun anyone they find camping on their property and use "defensive force" even killing a homeless person with no criminal consequences. The bill has 45 Republican co-sponsors. In America, we have issues of poverty, addiction, incarceration rates, and labor force participation. The problem with HB 5 is that it has draconian policies that won't radically decrease the homelessness rate in Kentucky. It is immoral to criminalize human beings who lack shelter in America. The city of Lexington has about 2,400 homeless people with only about 500-700 beds at local shelters. Even Tennessee is the first state to make it a felony to camp in parks and other public areas. It is the antithesis of compassion for any law to try to arrest people who lack a place to live.
The federal appeals court allowed the Trump gag order to stand involving the federal January 6th case. We know that January 6th was the date of the terrorist insurrection against innocent people at the U.S. Capitol in 2021. This happened during the federal appeals court in Washington, D.C. Trump has failed to challenge the gag order that was placed on him by Judge Tanya Chutkan late last year via appeals. The 11 judges from the D.C. Circuit of Appeals on Tuesday declined to touch the case after the three-judge panel previously upheld the gag order against Trump. The three judges on the panel found Trump's words on the public stage could undermine the fairness of a jury trial, sway or intimidate witnesses, and imperil court staff. To the judges, limited Trump's speech was justified during his campaign in 2024. Trump has been accused of many felonies, and he faced a lot of trials in the near future.
There are many things that many don't know about. The Kremlin is planning to call up more than 200,000 troops for Spring Offensive against Ukraine. Iranian backed militants have attacked people in Syria, Iraq, and Pakistan. Pakistan retaliated in their first air attack on Iran since the early 1980's. The Swedish civil defense minister suggests that war is on the horizon after 210 years of its modern history. In the Davos, many oligarchs expect Trump to win the Presidency and being happy about it. This tells me that many in the establishment love the agenda of Donald Trump, because some of them embrace the same authoritarianism and austerity that Trump agrees with. Trump wants revenge and retribution against his political opponents, he wants to be a dictator on day one, he called his opponents "vermin," and he claims that any President has total immunity from any crime.
Some sad news today is that Dexter King recently passed away at the age of 62 years old from prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is very common among black men especially, and this awareness is important for anyone to embrace. He lived a life in favor of civil rights, animal rights, and being an author. He was an attorney too. Dexter King attended the Democratic National Convention in 1972 that caused him to get an interest in politics. He attended Morehouse College to study business administration. For years, he served as chairman of the King Center for Nonviolent Social Change. He lived in Malibu, California too. Dexter later became a vegan with the introduction to it from the late Dick Gregory. He is known for voicing his father's 34-year-old self in the 1999 educational film, Our Friend Martin. The film was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program. He portrayed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the 2022 American TV movie of The Rosa Parks Story. His wife was Leah Weber.
