Mel Gibson's Problem Is Not Alcohol

I'm sure you've seen the headlines and the mug shot of Mel Gibson being booked for DUI. It is one of those human-interest stories that generate an enormous amount of media attention and website traffic, not so much because it involves alcohol abuse but because it involves a celebrity. When you add to that the fact that the celebrity in question is a staunch conservative and a Catholic with a well known history of deeply held religious beliefs and good works, the most famous of which is a highly acclaimed motion picture called, The Passion of the Christ, you not only have the makings of a real water cooler controversy but the enormous potential for spiritual confusion and secular exploitation.Mel's real problem is not alcohol; nor is it anti-Semitism, verbal abuse, drunk driving, speeding, running stop signs, a foul mouth, a cocky attitude, suicidal tendencies or any of the other "unforgivable" sins the media is currently seething over in its unrighteous indignation. Mel's problem is a life not surrendered to Jesus Christ.Salvation is not found in wafers and wine; nor is it obtained by building chapels, receiving mass in Latin, donating money to good causes, being conservative, patriotic, faithful to your wife, a good father or making religious movies that gross millions of dollars. Redemption is found ONLY through genuine repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. The fruit of a life surrendered to Christ is found in humble obedience to God's Word, not in a comprehensive list of accumulated good works and a reputation for charitable endeavors, regardless of how religious they may appear to be to family, friends, fans and clergy."Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." - Matthew 3:2Even repentance is a gift from God and not the work of men. If repentance was something anyone could perform, then the power of the flesh could itself redeem us through charity and good works, rendering Jesus Christ's sacrificial death on the cross, unnecessary. No, it is the power of God that convicts a pride-filled, self-centered, sin-ridden heart of its terminal condition and transforms lost souls from the inside out, turning us toward Jesus Christ and the Cross where He alone bore the penalty for our sins.
The religious power of man can only cover sin cosmetically from the outside in. And though cosmetics can for a time, create the illusion of health, beauty and perfection, it is only skin deep; and even the very best makeup fades over time revealing the embarrassing scars and imperfections of the flesh beneath."Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38Mel's failure, is the same failure of many so-called Christians today - they've made Jesus Christ a part of their lives rather than yielding their entire lives to Him so that HE can supernaturally make THEM a part of HIS Life eternal. It's a control issue that many who profess Christ simply have backwards. God is not a genie in a bottle to be uncorked in times of trouble. If Mel just asks the Lord to help him quit drinking or cure his alcoholism, he will not only have missed the point; he will have missed a marvelous opportunity to surrender his life, with all of its strengths, weaknesses, successes and failures to the only One who can miraculously deliver him from destruction.Recognizing our own inability and powerlessness against the sin in our lives is what ought to compel each us to cry out to God for deliverance, not therapy. Merely asking God for assistance with a particular sin or "disease" that has most recently troubled or embarrassed us publicly while holding on to the rest of our life, as if we had that part of it under control, is an insult to the Almighty and shrewdly sidesteps the larger spiritual issue of ownership and our desperate need of redemption. I sincerely hope this is not what results from Mr. Gibson's arrest.We should all be on our knees begging for Divine deliverance daily from a deceitful heart and sinful desires within us that war with God and try to separate us from His Will.
Until this happens and the Lord answers our earnest prayer and confession with His life-changing power, any struggle we have, be it with alcohol or anything else, will continue unabated and not without great cost."Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God." - 1st Corinthians 6:10Petitioning some unnamed "higher power" in a 12-step program might temporarily aid one in some psychological and superficial sense with a life-long struggle against alcohol; but only Jesus Christ's one-step program of repentance can effectively deliver us from the self-destructive appetites and desires of the flesh; and our souls from the fires of Hell. Alcoholism is curable, but not with a willful and disobedient heart that refuses to repent. It's not about getting new habits - it's about getting a new life.Based on reports of what Gibson said when he was arrested, even in his drunken state, he seemed to realize that his life was in shambles. Using unrepeatable profanities, he essentially said as much; but then so is any life without Christ. What makes this terrible tragedy such a marvelous opportunity for him; is now that he can see a little more clearly what his life REALLY IS, in spite of his wealth, fame, success and religious reputation, with God's gift of repentance, he might well, for the first time in his life, obtain a cure, instead of just help in managing the symptoms.Although it's much too early to know what will become of Mel and his DUI; I find it both encouraging and ironic that, at least for a brief moment, in the vulgarity of his anguish and despair, he accurately assessed the condition of his life. That's a pretty good start, considering that many today, both inside and outside the church and its Purpose Driven pulpits, can't even do that sober."…except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." - Luke 13:3&5

I'm sure you've seen the headlines and the mug shot of Mel Gibson being booked for DUI. It is one of those human-interest stories that generate an enormous amount of media attention and website traffic, not so much because it involves alcohol abuse but because it involves a celebrity. When you add to that the fact that the celebrity in question is a staunch conservative and a Catholic with a well known history of deeply held religious beliefs and good works, the most famous of which is a highly acclaimed motion picture called, The Passion of the Christ, you not only have the makings of a real water cooler controversy but the enormous potential for spiritual confusion and secular exploitation.Mel's real problem is not alcohol; nor is it anti-Semitism, verbal abuse, drunk driving, speeding, running stop signs, a foul mouth, a cocky attitude, suicidal tendencies or any of the other "unforgivable" sins the media is currently seething over in its unrighteous indignation. The following review was sent to WING TV by Vyzygoth, host of From the Grassy Knoll V is of course a muti-layered film and, at one of the important levels, it has a historical story which most people do not know. Guy Fawkes was a Jesuit Roman/Vatican agent who, along with some other conspirators (in the true sense of the word), intended to blow up the English Parliament on its opening session (Nov. 5th), when the king would be present along with the rest of the members of parliament. This is the famous Gundpowder Plot. Fawkes was caught and executed. The intention of this plot was to bring England back into the fold of Rome, from which it had departed beginning with Henry VIII. This rift with Rome had grown greater under the reign of Elizabeth I--against whose life many attempts had been made by Jesuit/Roman agents. This continued under James I, who suceeded Elizabeth I in 1603, and was the king whose life had also been targeted by Fawkes and his associates. In reality, Fawkes was anything but a victim:
He had committed treason and suffered the consequences under English law. The movie paints his counterpart, V as a victim, which is not historically accurate regarding Fawkes. But the real powerful symbolism in this movie is found in the two buildings that are blown up: the Old Bailey and the English Parliament. The Old Bailey represents conmon law, the very foundation of democracy and the freedoms that we enjoy today in western countries (especially those nations whose laws are based on English common law, i.e., England, Canada, the U.S., Australia and New Zealand in particular, but including as well all the commonwealth countries such as India). Common law gave us two very important and foundational principles without which it is not possible to have a free society:
1) trial by jury;
2) innocent until proven guilty. The opposite of common law is canon law--the law of the Roman Catholic institution. This law is not religious but, rather, the constitution upon which all laws were formed in Catholic countries. Under canon law no one except the pope has any rights, and this is as true today as it was in the middle ages. All rights are vested in the pope (more accurately in the men who control the office of the papacy), and it is the pope who distributes any and all rights as he pleases.
Thus under Canon law no one except the pope has any inherent rights. What Guy Fawkes had been contracted to do was to eliminate the protestant king and parliament thus paving the way for a Catholic, Rome-controlled monarch to be installed in the place of James I, thus replacing common law in England with canon law once again. We are all too aware how fast our rights are eroding, and this movie sends the coded message (whether as a warning or a sign of the triumph of Rome) that common law has been blown away (the Old Bailey being blown up), exactly that which Guy Fawkes set out to do. And what will be left is canon law: all power and rights vested in a very few men who control government leaving the rest of us as serfs. Even more troubling is the blowing up of the English Parliament, which brought us modern democracy and gave rights to common people, a concept that was pretty much unknown in the medieval world.
Three important freedoms that were granted to all people were freedom of the press; freedom of conscience; freedom of thought. Believe it or not, under canon law all three of these freedoms are anathemized, that is, they are cursed by canon law even today. Yes, under canon law a man is not free to think for himself or to follow the dictates of his own conscience, but must bow to the will of the church. He is not free to think what is right or wrong, but must accept as right or wrong that which the church tells him is right or wrong. Since England split from Rome in the 1500s, it has been the stated goal of Rome to bring England back to the fold. By blowing up her parliament, the most important symbol of freedom in the world (not the Statue of Liberty), the message is being conveyed that the experiment of parliamentary self-governance has come to an end. It is important that, in the movie, this event takes place after Guy Fawkes dies. The message, however, is that what Guy Fawkes died for has at last been accomplished 400 years after his death. Rome never forgets and Rome at last has its vendetta. More foreboding messages in the movie are the destruction of the United States (and Canada by extension) through biowarfare and civil war, both distinct possibilities as many researchers have warned us.
The movie on the surface may seem to be promoting freedom in the face of totalitarianism, but its symbols foreshadow a completely totalitarian world that will be brought about through disease, warfare, and "natural" disasters. To those who believe that Rome is ancient history, keep these facts in mind: for the past 1000-plus years, all secret societies have directly or indirectly originated from within the Roman Catholic church. The Knights Templar, from whom came the Knights of Malta and Knights of Columbus, are all Catholic; the Jesuits, the Priory of Sion and, in more modern times, Opus Dei have all had their genesis in the Roman religion. Freemasons are also an offshoot of the Knights Templar and very much in bed with the Vatican. The CIA was originally formed mostly by Nazi Germans who escaped Europe on Vatican passports.
From its very beginning, the CIA and all other secret agencies (which is a more accurate term than intelligence agencies) have been tied to the Vatican. So is the Vatican a spent force? Hardly. And it is my assessment that V might even stand for VATICAN and, on a deeper level, shows the triumph of Rome and Roman canon law. V truly foreshadows the coming dark ages: rampant disease, civil wars, rioting, curfews, govenment agents everywhere, listening in on us, watching us, instilling fear everywhere, exactly as it happened all over Europe for 600-plus years of The Inquistion. The first Matrix was a very intelligent movie, more so than V in my opinion, but I believe both movies are agenda movies. They seem to promise hope and freedom, but if we dissect them, the message both these movies convey is the opposite of hope and freedom. Major Hollywood motion pictures always have an agenda. Movies such as V show us the problem, then offer a solution which furthers the agenda of the very totalitarianism they supposedly oppose. History repeats itself because people do not know real history. Guy Fawkes was an enemy of free thought, and he represented the most totalitarian form of government ever conceived by man. By having people wearing Guy Fawkes masks at the end of the movie, the movie makers make a mockery out of history and present the enslavers as the emancipators. "There are none so hopelessly enslaved as those who think that they are free."
I know many folks might disagree with my interpretation of this film, but from a historical point of view, I think my conclusions are correct. I used to be accused of being some right wing Protestant. I was born and raised in India as a Sikh. I have no affiliation with any organized religion, but I am an avid student of history and call it the way I see it and, historically speaking, Guy Fawkes was no friend of the people.

Menses: Perhaps this has been discussed previously and so I apologize in advance if it has. I only recently watched the movie V for Vendetta. I noticed a couple of things. Namely that the movie was clearly a tongue & cheek pseudo exposing of the Terrorist hoax that is going on in the U.S. & in particular Britain..Those of you who havent seen the movie I suggest you stop reading at this point for risk of ruining the plot for you....The movie's main character who is the protagonist in the film manages to educate the people of England about how currupt their government really is. He exposes the conspiracy behind the alleged threat of Terrorism and in the end manages to rally the people to the point where they are actively participating in a revolution. The movie climaxes in the blowing up of the Parliament building. This act of "defiance" is viewed by the people as a blow to the establishment.
The goal of the protagonist in the film had always been chaos. And that is precisely what happens....I believe the goal of the people whom made this film was to have the people who saw it believe that "insurrection" was the only way to rise above the "tryanny of the state". Menses: Perhaps this has been discussed previously and so I apologize in advance if it has. I only recently watched the movie V for Vendetta. I noticed a couple of things. Namely that the movie was clearly a tongue & cheek pseudo exposing of the Terrorist hoax that is going on in the U.S. & in particular Britain..Those of you who havent seen the movie I suggest you stop reading at this point for risk of ruining the plot for you....The movie's main character who is the protagonist in the film manages to educate the people of England about how currupt their government really is. He exposes the conspiracy behind the alleged threat of Terrorism and in the end manages to rally the people to the point where they are actively participating in a revolution. The movie climaxes in the blowing up of the Parliament building. This act of "defiance" is viewed by the people as a blow to the establishment.
The goal of the protagonist in the film had always been chaos. And that is precisely what happens....I believe the goal of the people whom made this film was to have the people who saw it believe that "insurrection" was the only way to rise above the "tryanny of the state". Esteemed depleted uranium expert Dr. Doug Rokke is pointing the finger at Israel for using deadly and illegal depleted uranium munitions against the Lebanese people which were sold to them by the U.S. government - and calls for an immediate halt to the practice.
Dr. Doug Rokke's military career spanned four decades before he was appointed as the head of the US Army's investigative team into the assessment and teaching of the dangers of depleted uranium.
Dr. Rokke has been called upon as an advisor for the Centers of Disease Control, Department of Defense, National Academy of Sciences, Institute of Medicine, U.S Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Department of Transportation, FAA, U.S. Department of Defense. U.S. General Accounting Office, Department of Veterans Affairs, British Royal Society, British House of Lords and House of Commons, United Nations, and Presidential Special Oversight Board.
Depleted uranium is a radioactive toxic poison - according to Wikipedia, "Depleted uranium is a byproduct of the enriching of natural uranium for use in nuclear reactors. When most of the fissile radioactive isotopes of uranium are removed from natural uranium, the residue is called depleted uranium."
Depleted uranium is indiscriminate in who it targets. During an appearance on the Alex Jones Show, Dr. Rokke described some of the effects of depleted uranium - a battlefield weapon that once used can never be cleaned up and remains in the atmosphere for eternity.
"What we know from first hand experience and what happened to those of us in Gulf War I and when we did our research for the US Army - the first thing that hits you is respiratory problems, then you have the rashes, then you start having permanent lung damage within a few months because of radiation and chemical toxicity, then you have neurological problems, then you have gastrointestinal problems."
"You have decalcification of the bones and the teeth - then you have all the eye problems due to the alpha and beta damage to the eyes - and then the cancers, the leukemia and everything else," said Rokke.
"It's catastrophic, the US Army briefing the Pentagon leaders prior to Gulf War II in 2002 flat out acknowledged all of the problems yet they disregard them and say that they don't exist in public."
Following the bombing of Afghanistan a scientific study by British scientists Dr. Chris Busby and Saoirse Morgan concluded that high levels of depleted uranium had contaminated Europe, having drifted on air currents from the Middle East and Central Asia.
Rokke said the Israelis first used depleted uranium munitions against the Egyptians during the Arab-Israeli war in 1973-74.
He outlined the path to the Israeli use of depleted uranium munitions, the 'civilized world's' dirty bombs, in Lebanon over the last two weeks.
Extreme birth deformities across Iraq and the Balkans are attributed to indiscriminate use of depleted uranium.
"The US Army confirmed they had used over 500 tons of uranium munitions just in the first two months in Iraq - that's the shock and awe - the US Army thoroughly confirmed in that the GBU 28 - which is a precision guided bomb if you will - 5,000 pounds of explosives contains a uranium warhead - again these are the bunker busters," said Rokke.
"Well low and behold last week guess what the United States delivered to Israel - over 100 GBU 28's to use against targets in Lebanon."
"The Army thoroughly confirmed that its a radioactive bomb and the shrapnel is there after its use and it's a problem and everything else so it's all there."
"So now we have photographic confirmation - and I want to repeat - photographic confirmation of Israeli tankers loading uranium rounds into Israeli tanks and using them in Lebanon," Rokke told Jones.
"What we have now is deliberate use of radioactive munitions, depleted uranium munitions, which are illegal according to the United Nations."
"We've got all the Lebanese being effected, all the women and children being affected, all the Israelis being effected, and the areas over there are so small you're going to have the whole region effected and contaminated."
"We knew about the GBU 28 delivery, we knew that was a given thing - now we were looking at the damage that's being done to Lebanon and all the damage indicates DU but until we actually got the full photograph of the DU round being loaded by an Israeli tank gunner we didn't have that and that came in yesterday," said Rokke.
