NEW LATIN PATRIARCH & ARCHBISHOP OF JERUSALEM: FOUAD TWAL

Michel Sabbah retired earlier this year from his post of the past two decades as Latin Patriarch & Archbishop of Jerusalem, having reached the statutory age of 75. He has also retired fron his position as Grand Prior of the Holy Sepulchre, serving under that Order’s Grand Master John Patrick Cardinal Foley.
Sabbah’s replacement as Patriarch/Archbishop & OHS Grand Prior is the Jordanian Fouad Twal, who was recently quoted as saying “we don’t want to be beggars with a licence. I don’t like this. We need a political horizon…” See more details below.

Grand Prior: Fouad Twal (Latin Patriarch & Archbishop of Jerusalem).
This position of Grand Prior was held until very recently by Michel Sabbah, who as far as I have been able to discern, stayed in that role for a while after Twal replaced him as Latin Patriarch & Archbishop of Jerusalem. Whoever is elected into this/these role(s) are also traditionally the Grand Prior to the OHS. It seems that Twal was given time to acclimatise to the role of Patriarch first. Either that of the Vatican were allow to update their website at http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/institut...h/subindex.html under “Il Gran Magistero”. This was the entry which I have now replaced with Twal’s at my NWO overview.

Fouad Twal (Arabic: فؤاد طوال) (born October 23, 1940 at Madaba) is a Roman Catholicarchbishop. Since June 2008 he has served as the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem.
He was ordained to the priesthood on June 29, 1966. After his ordination he was the vicar of Ramallah. In 1972 he entered the Pontifical Lateran University where he studied for a doctrate in canon law. He was awarded his doctorate in 1975. He was appointed the prelate of the territorial prelature of Tunis by Pope John Paul II on May 30, 1992. He was concrecrated to the episcopate on July 22 later that year. In 1995, the territorial prelature was elevated to become the Diocese of Tunis, and Twal was made an archbishop ad personam. In 2005, Pope Benedict XVI named him the coadjutor archbishop of Jerusalem. He succeeded Michel Sabbah as the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem in 2008.
Receiving the Pallium
His Beatitude Fouad Twal received his pallium at the hands of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI at a mass in the Basilica of Saint Peter, Vatican City State, 29 June 2008 at around 12.05pm local (Palestinian) time.

On the situation of Palestine and its people he has recently said: “We receive a lot of help and we are grateful but at the same time we say we need more. What we need is peace. We don’t only to be a begging Church, we don’t want to be beggars with a licence. I don’t like this. We need a political horizon, it’s time to put an end to the Wall, the Checkpoints, it’s time for a Palestinian State, it’s time for an end to our problems with visa’s.,”

Dear Craig,
Looks great! Bush was a good friend of an Episcopalian minister in DC who
is also a member of the EOHS. I have the pic of Bush shaking his hand.
Also, if you view the movie "Kingdom of Heaven" which concerns the Kingdom
of Jerusalem and its capture by Saladin, the Grand Master of the EOHS is a
key character.
