The Winter Storm and Other News.

The snowstorm across America is real. From the south to the Midwest and Mountain West, temperatures have declined on a massive scale. Parts of Wyoming have seen a decline in temperature to 70 degrees. About 3,000 flights have been canceled which disrupts holiday travel.  Denver and Chicago experienced many flight cancellations too. Bus services are disrupted from Denver to Cleveland. We know of the high winds coming to the Northeast and other places. High snow and extreme temperatures definitely are interrelated with the reality of climate change. Climate change consists of erratic weather and extreme temperatures during the course of the four seasons of the year. That is why we all need to be careful in our everyday lives.

Today, more transcripts in relation to the January 6th committee has been released. The committee and Hutchinson accuse one lawyer of trying to not talk about certain issues. Former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson said that her first attorney told her to stop cooperating with the January 6 House select committee even if she risked a contempt of Congress charge. There are transcripts of her interviews being released to the public now. The January 6th committee is now sharing information to the Department of Justice. The attempted coup d'état is a complex historical event, but it is clear that Trump and his co-conspirators desired to overthrow a legal election via nefarious means. They failed. The first attorney wanted to pressure Hutchinson to have better job opportunities. This is similar to mob-like activities. Passantino wanted Hutchinson to not speak to the committee anymore. Hutchinson rightfully refused the offer and told the truth under oath about what took place on January 6th, 2021 including the fact that Trump assaulted a Secret Service agent trying to stop Trump from going to the rally. Hundreds of weapons were seized at the January 6th rally.

The Biden administration wants the Title 42 policy to end. What is Title 42? Title 42 was a Trump-era policy that restricted migrants from coming into America during the height of the pandemic in America. The Biden administration wants to appeal the Supreme Court decision to keep temporarily Title 42. The administration said that states, led by Arizona, don't have the legal right to challenge a federal court opinion that vacated the program and ordered its termination by Wednesday. By March 2020, Title 42 allowed U.S. border agents to immediately turn away migrants who have crossed the southern border in an undocumented fashion in the name of COVID-19 prevention. There have been almost 2.5 million expulsions, most under the Biden administration. El Paso declared a state of emergency too. The ACLU wants the migrants to have an asylum hearings as many migrants are escaping social unrest and political strife. Texas National Guard troops have used fences and barbed wire in areas where migrants have been crossing. The only solution is comprehensive immigration policies that promote compassion, an orderly asylum process, humanitarian aid, and safety and justice for all people.

Schumer expects an agreement on the 1.7 trillion-dollar spending bill this morning. Time will tell. Many lawmakers have to go home to places with severe winter storms. The issue is what to do with Title 42. The spending deal with banning Tik Tok on federal devices, Ukraine funding, and other issues. Zelenskyy gave his speech to Congress recently. He said that the city of Bakhmut still stands after months of Russian assaults. Biden eases access to Tamiflu over the increase of flu cases in Americans of all ages.

Yesterday was  the Birthday of Sister Bern Nadette Stanis, and she is 69 years old. She is a world-famous actress and author. People know her for playing the only daughter of Florida and James Evans Sr. on the CBS sitcom Good Times. Even on the show, she shows that she is all Brooklyn with her Northern accent. She was born in Brooklyn, NYC in the Brownsville section. Her paternal grandparents were Afro-Caribbeans from Carriacou in the Grenadine Islands. Stanis attended Erasmus Hall High School. Then, she attended the Julliard School (which trains actors, dancers, and other people interested in the study of the human arts in general). When she was a teenager, she entered Miss Black America pageants. She won Miss Brooklyn, and she was the first runner-up in the Miss New York state pageant. She was on Good Times from February 1974 to August 1979. She was on shows like The Cosby Show, What's Happening Now!, and worked in AT&T commercials (with former co-star Jimmie Walker). Stanis did a Nationwide Insurance commercial too. She was on the show Way Black Then too. Stanis discussed her life and career on the TV One show Life After and Centric's Being. Stanis loves her children and lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her children. She is living her life, and her legacy is always admired by us.
I wish Sister Bern Nadette Stanis more Blessings.
