FBI’s Mueller Asked Fatuous Facebook Question

It demonstrates the obvious – the airhead corporate media is no threat to the enemies of liberty.
Sylvia Smith, National Press Club president, asked FBI director Robert Mueller if he “ever posted anything on the Internet.” Mueller said no, he never has. Smith said: “So I guess I can’t invite you to be my Facebook friend?” Laughter all around at the National Press Club in Washington. In the background, you could smell what is left of the Constitution burning.
If we didn’t live in Bushzarro world, where up is down, black is white, and trampling the Fourth Amendment and the Bill of Rights does not set off alarm bells, Smith may have asked Mueller why he didn’t resign, as promised, back in March of 2004 when the Justice Department almost nearly decided that warrantless domestic wiretapping was unconstitutional. Of course, two dedicated enemies of liberty, White House chief of Staff Andrew Card and then White House Counsel Alberto R. Gonzales, merely waived an inconvenient ruling and Mueller’s job was safe, although not the Constitution. Recall this duo trekking off to the hospital to lean on then AG John Ashcroft, who was in intensive care, to get him to “reauthorize” the neocon domestic surveillance program, which the Justice Department had determined was illegal. Ashcroft refused to sign off, to his credit.
But no. Instead we get airheads asking about Facebook, the social network with suspect beginnings. Funding for the initial Facebook project “came in the form of $12.7 million from venture capital firm Accel Partners,” writes Josh Smith. “Accel’s manager James Breyer was former chair of the National Venture Capital Association. Breyer served on NVAC’s board with Gilman Louie, CEO of In-Q-Tel, a venture capital firm established by the Central Intelligence Agency in 1999. This firm works in various aspects of information technology and intelligence, including most notably ‘nurturing data mining technologies.’” Other shady connections go back to BBN Technologies, DARPA, and the supposedly defunct Information Awareness Office.
Of course, we can’t except members of the National Press Club, actually a gathering of script readers, to follow up on such questions, or do anything with bureaucrat Mueller present expect make stupid jokes and play pat-a-cake.
