Robert Schuller, Mr."positive thinking" himself, teaches and preaches another gospel. Besides the fact that he is a 33rd Degree Freemason and besides him being financially backed by Austrailian media billionaire Rupert Murdock, whose tabloids in Brittain profit from their lurid, bare pictures of beautiful young women, and besides the fact that Schuller has been the recipient of money and influence from another Illuminati operative, the late Armand Hammer, a noted Marxist and Soviet bag man, (It was Hammer who arranged for the Communist hardliners in the Kremlin to broadcast Schuller's Hour of Power program on Russian television years ago), leaving all that aside, Mr. Schuller's teachings are nothing more than new age psycho-babble! I will be posting quotes from Mr. Schuller for you to examine in light of Scripture and test for yourself the spirit behind the man leading Crystal Cathedral.

Robert Schuller is also guilty of aligning himself with Rome. Just look at what he said concerning Pope John Paul II: "I found myself immediately attracted to Pope John Paul II when, upon his election to the Papacy, his published speeches invariably called attention to the need for recognizing the dignity of the human being as a child of God" (p. 17). In 1992 Schuller founded Churches Uniting in Global Missions, which seeks "a spirit of unity that is truly Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, Evangelical, and Charismatic." Schuller speaks of being "euphoric" when Mother Teresa "blessed" him. This alone should put every Christian on guard! But let's proceed to his quotes.

Quotes of Robert Schuller [with my comments in brackets]

"Classical theology defines sin as 'rebellion against God.' The answer is not incorrect as much as it is shallow and insulting to the human being. Every person deserves to be treated with dignity even if he or she is a 'rebellious sinner'." Self-Esteem: The New Reformation, 1982, pg. 65.

["It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you. For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus." ( 1Cor. 5:1-5) It is evident from Scripture that we are NOT to "treat with dignity" one who is rebellious against God! As a matter of fact, we are told to disassociate from such, "turn away", "avoid", and "deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh". Mr. Schuller mocks the gospel by saying sinners should be told they are something they are not!]

"Where the sixteenth-century Reformation returned our focus to sacred Scriptures as the only infallible rule for faith and practice, the new reformation will return our focus to the sacred right of every person to self-esteem!" (Self Esteem, p. 38.)

["This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." 2 Timothy 3:1-5 So much for Schuller's "self-esteem"!]

"I may not deserve it [salvation] but I am worth it so don't say that I am unworth." (Self Esteem, p. 74).

["And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son." Luke 15:21. "And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof." Revelation 5:3-5. As you can see, there is none worthy, no not one of us. There is but One Worthy of all honor, glory and praise, and it is Jesus Christ!]

"For once a person believes he is an 'unworthy sinner', it is doubtful if he can really honestly accept the saving grace God offers in Jesus Christ." (Self Esteem, p. 98)

[I don't know about you, but that is one of the most anti-Christian statements Schuller could make! Unless a man confess that he is an "unworthy sinner" he cannot understand the grace of God! Romans 3:10 & 23 tells us that we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We have ALL sinned. Sin separates us from God. None of us are worthy. None of us can keep the Law. This is why Jesus Christ came and died for our sins! Because our own works were unrighteous. He is the ONLY ONE who overcame sin and death so that by Him we might live. This comment by Robert Schuller is straight from the pit of hell! The verse I posted above, in Revelation, shows once again that Mr. Schuller is a liar!]

"A person is in hell when he has lost his self-esteem." (Self Esteem, pp. 14-15.)

["And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever." Rev 20:10 "But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Mt 8:12. "And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth." Mt 13:42 . "And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone." Revelation 19:20 "And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Matthew 25:30. Does this sound like Robert Schuller's version of "hell"? It most definitely does not! Once again, Schuller has lied against the gospel.]

"The most effective mantras employ the "M" sound. You can get the feel of it by repeating the words, "I am, I am," many times over...Transendental Meditation or TM...is not a religion nor is it necessarily anti-Christian." (Peace of Mind Through Possibility Thinking, pp. 131-32).

[O.K. Now if you cannot see the problem with that statement, maybe it is YOU who needs to pick up a Bible and start reading! "Mantras"? "T.M."? Now who among us does not know these as new age terms? Power words? Vain repetition? "But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the HEATHEN do: for they THINK that they shall be heard for their much speaking." Matthew 6:7.]

Enough quotes from Mr. Schuller! But let me add that if he thinks that Jesus was a "Be-Happy" attitude person, maybe he should read Isaiah 53:3, "He [Jesus] is despised and rejected of men: A MAN OF SORROWS, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not."

One last thing. I came across a picture of the Crystal Cathedral from January 1998, when Schuller conducted an international conference of 2,200 church leaders. Below you will see first the normal size picture and then a blown up view of the goats head, the well-known symbol of the devil. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. (Notice the bottom right hand corner of the first picture.)
