The 2021 Impeachment Trial Continues.

Today, some sad news is here today. A legend passed away on February 8, 2021. She had a generous spirit and was part of the most influential all-women singing group in human history. She had a kind tenderness that made people gravitate to her personality. Her wisdom was amazing, and her eloquent words were always filled with ebullient power. She is the Sister Mary Wilson. Like many from the Deep South, she moved into Detroit from Mississippi at a young age. The Deep South had that soul of musical talent among our Brothers and our Sisters. That is why the Deep South is the origin of jazz, the blues, and much of the Motown sound in general. She knew Florence Ballard and Diana Ross when many of them were living at Brewster-Douglass Housing Projects in Detroit. Humble beginnings and true camaraderie define her life. She was part of the Primettes, and then their group changed their names to the Supremes in 1961. The Supremes was before En Vogue, before TLC, before Destiny's Child, before SWV, before Xscape, before Jade, before Brownstone, and before Blaque. The Supremes toured the world and had songs not just about love (with classics like You Can't Hurry Love, Back in My Arms Again, Baby Love, etc.) but also with legitimate social commentaries like Love Child. Mary Wilson worked with Diana Ross and Florence Ballard to be a team of iconic black women who have shown elegance, grace, excellence, and sense of determination to promote their own dignity on their own terms.

They were the heartbeat and the soundtrack of so many human beings, especially women who fought for their dreams to be realized. Mary Wilson's dreams were massively fulfilled in her walk. Her walk was filled with love, loss, and perseverance. Completely honest, she shared her heart about her experiences in the Supremes and her solo career. Mary Wilson, Diana Ross, and Florence Ballard are all equals. Known for charity work, Mary Wilson gave her time and sacrifice to work with the NAACP, UNICEF, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, etc. Caring and compassion define her monumental life. She lived a full life, even participating in Dancing with the Stars in 2019. She loved her children, grandchildren, and siblings. Legends are always honored by us. Mary Wilson was not only a legend involving music; she was a gorgeous legend outside of music. That is why we certainly feel a sense a gratitude for her long, glorious life walk.

Rest in Power Sister Mary Wilson.

Today, the Senate voted 56-44 that the trial is constitutional. Only 6 Republicans voted for the trial being constitutional. First, the prosecutors laid their outstanding case of Trump inciting violence. Trump lied about the election being rigged and tried to end the results of a legal election. The prosecution presented an extended video of the domestic terrorists and traitors using vulgarities, violently attacking police officers, destroying property, promoting lies about the election, and going about causing mayhem. Therefore, Trump is a criminal by using his administration to attempt to end the election certification. Trump called Georgia officials to try to flip George to red, when Georgia became blue for the first time since 1992.  These are anti-democratic tactics. Congressman Rankin gave an emotional testimony of the events on January 6, 2021. He spoke of his time at the Capitol, and he made the point that Trump not only incited the mob to commit violence. He also said that Trump refused to experience accountability for his actions. Trump's attorneys said that the trial itself was unconstitutional. That argument fails as we have legal scholars and legal precedent proving that officials can be impeached after they left office. Not to mention that Trump's incitement happened while he was in office. In that sense, Trump and others, who provoked the violent mob, must experience accountability. The GOP Senators, who voted against the Democrats, have an abhorrence for the rule of law. Trump is not above the law. No one is above the law.

One lesson learned in 2021 is that going to the "center" isn't worth it while lives are being lost and massive suffering is still in existence. Healthcare, equality, and other just concepts are what we desire. We know that 93% of all House Republicans voted against impeaching Trump for inciting insurrection. This existed even after Trump promoted an attempted coup that risked the lives of every Congressmen and Congresswomen. The Republican Party has evolved into a pro-Trump cult. There is no other way to put it. Polls show that 45 percent of Republicans support the evil storming of the Capitol and more than half of all Republicans believe in the lie that Trump won the 2020 election. These polls outline what we have been saying for years (that far right extremism is a threat to the world). There is no middle ground in dealing with Qanon cultists, sexists, racists, and xenophobes. We have to speak truth to power. That is precisely why justice is our aim. Biden is pushing for the pandemic relief bill to be passed quickly. The bill has money for programs to help with public health and economic recovery. The majority of the American people desire a solution and such bold policies to be enacted. We have Lou Dobbs' show canceled from FOX News. I knew of Lou Dobbs for years as a xenophobe and a person who lied about Obama's citizenship. Many voting companies are suing far right media figures over the far right folks' denials of the legitimacy of the 2020 election. There are more rallies in Russia in favor of Navalny. The BBC further proves the oppression of Uighur Muslims in China. Biden's plan is worth $1.9 trillion. There are calls for the Department of Education to eliminate $50,000 per debtor of student loan debt.

Trump's attorney are using the lie that the BLM movement incites violence as an excuse for Trump inciting violence. Trump during the rally said that he wanted people to fight at Congress to end the peaceful democratic transition of power. Trump was explicitly involved in a failed coup attempt against the 2020 election. Studies have shown that 93 percent of all BLM protests are peaceful, the BLM movement in general don't advocate violent insurrection against the U.S. government, and Trump is clear that he wanted to use strength and fighting to eliminate the results of the election. The insurrection involved treason, violence, threats, and death. The violence at the Capitol represents the mindset and philosophies of tons of Trump supporters. That is why polls show that most Republicans believe that Trump won the 2020 election, which is a lie. Trump wanted to stop the certification of the 2020 election which is an attempted coup d'etat. That is wrong, illegal, and treason by Trump.
