Political and Social News.

Some breaking news is that 2 people died from a missile strike in eastern Poland. It struck a farm near its border with Ukraine. Russia showed a wave of missile attacks on Ukrainian cities too. These Russian missiles hit cities of Kjiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, and others. This caused millions to have no power and damaged energy infrastructure according to Ukrainian officials. President Volodmyr Zelensky presented a 10 point peace plan to end the Russian invasion of Ukraine via his video speech to G20 leaders. The steps involve a path to nuclear safety, food security, and a special tribunal for alleged Russian war crimes. The strike in Poland changes everything as Poland is a NATO country. All NATO countries are required to defend another NATO country when it is attacked. Biden talked to Polish Prime Minister Morawiecki. It is unknown where the missiles have come from. It may be a Ukrainian missile. Yet, we do know that Putin's forces have attacked multiple cities in Ukraine in the realm of war crimes overtly.

International leaders have met in Bali for the G20 summit. President Joe Biden had his first face-to-face meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping since his inauguration. Biden pledged to "manage" the American trade war with China calling it as "competition." Biden said that he doesn't want a conflict militarily with China, but he wants to manage competition responsibly and have open lines of communication. There are tons of disagreements between Biden and Xi on many issues from Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Uyghurs, the Ukrainian war, etc. For a while, American forces have put pressure on Beijing from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visiting Taiwan to Biden saying that the U.S. would commit troops to defend Taiwan in the event of an invasion by China. America has banned advanced microchips in China. Biden said that Xi was direct and straightforward and willing to compromise. American governmental leaders want prominent influence worldwide, and China wants to grow its connections to its financial links to other nations. Now, we saw see what the future will hold.

Today, we know of the massive tragedy that happened in my state of Virginia. A murderer ended the lives of 3 human beings on the University of Virginia campus at Charlottesville, Virginia. Charlottesville is in Northern Virginia near the large mountains of my state. There is no excuse for murder. We all send empathy and sympathy to the families of the injured and to the families of the victims who lost their lives. The murderer was captured in Henrico County, Virginia. The UVA campus will be closed on Tuesday. The coward shot at the bus coming back from a field trip. Like always, the status quo won't work. Either a gun is God or it is not. I believe that a gun is not God, therefore legitimate regulations on the ownership of guns are necessary to save human lives. We will stand up against evil, and evil will never prevail at the end of time.

Right now, the House is in limbo. We don't know who will concern the House, whether its Republicans or Democrats. The Senate now is controlled mostly by Democrats. Some political figures say that the Republican might have slim majority in the House. Now, McCarthy wants to be the House Majority leader. As it is now, the vast majority of Americans want to support democracy, not Trump's far right extremism. Generation Z has worked hard to make sure that many people would win seats who believe in real progressive principles. Elon Musk said that he may file for bankruptcy involving Twitter. This represents the chaos at Twitter now. Musk is the person who wanted people in America to vote for Republicans during the midterm's election. The FTC is watching Musk's Twitter with deep concern.

Yesterday was the Birthday of Sister Karen Clark Sheard, and she is 62 years old. Gospel fans know her as one of the most legendary gospel singers of all time. She worked hard in promoting her faith and showing inspirational music to the people. She won American Grammy Awards. She is a singer, musician, songwriter, and businesswoman. She is the wife of the current Church of God in Christ Presiding Bishop J. Drew Sheard. Detroit, Michigan is the city of her birth, and she is the youngest of the Clark Sisters. When she was a child, the gospel music genre was in her life. Her parents were involved in music in the church who are Reverend Elbert Clark and Dr. Mattie Moss Clark. Her debut album was Finally Karen in 1997. In 1998, she won the Lady of Soul award for Best Gospel Album. Her daughter, Kierra Sheard portrayed her in the classic Lifetime TV biopic of The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel. It was released on April 11, 2020. She loves her children, and she survived a blood clot in a miracle. The Return was her album in 2021. You can always tell that she has a love of her spiritual beliefs and music.  I wish Sister Karen Clark Sheard more Blessings.
