Merc Firm Offered to Post “Sentries” at Polling Places

“An offer by the private security arm of Evergreen International Aviation to post sentries at polling places in Oregon — for the stated purpose of ’stopping any violence that may occur’ — has raised eyebrows among election observers, prompting reactions ranging from alarm and confusion to laughter,” the Yamhill Valley News Register reported earlier in the week.

Bloomberg warns that violence may occur in Chicago after an Obama win or loss as it did during the Democrat Convention in 1968.
It would appear Evergreen is attempting to profit from widespread fears of violence on election day. On October 21, The Hill reported that police departments around the country were preparing for “possible civil unrest and riots,” specifically if Barack Obama failed to win. “Some worry that if Barack Obama loses and there is suspicion of foul play in the election, violence could ensue in cities with large black populations. Others based the need for enhanced patrols on past riots in urban areas (following professional sports events) and also on Internet rumors.” Democrat strategist James Carville added to the mix by stating that if Obama were to lose, “it would be very, very, very dramatic out there.”

“Never has there been a more heated battle in the race for president,” remarked the mercenary outfit’s president Tom Wiggins. David Bates, writing for the New Register, quoted from an email sent to the clerk in Douglas County, Colorado, on October 10:
The company, he said, “proposes to post sentries at each voting center on November 4th to assure that disputes amongst citizens do not get out of control. All guards will be unarmed, but capable of stopping any violence that may occur and detaining troublemakers until law enforcement arrives.”

The company, according to Bates, “exudes the gung-ho patriotism that is associated with the company founder, a political conservative who enjoys close ties with the federal government and military.” Nathan Hodge, writing for Wired, notes that Evergreen is associated with the CIA. “Back in the late ’80s, the company ‘acknowledged one agreement under which his [Tom Wiggins] companies provide occasional jobs and cover to foreign nationals the CIA wants taken out of other countries or brought into the United States.’”

According to the Evergreen Aviation website, the company has “nearly five decades of experience working with the U.S. Armed Forces, the Department of Defense, the Department of Interior, the United Nations, NASA, and the U.S. Air Mobility Command. Many of our contracts include highly sensitive work-scope, and take place in locations ranging from the deserts of the Middle East to the jungles of South America to the highest peaks of Mt. McKinley in Alaska.”
Is it possible Wiggins, the CIA, and the Pentagon have inside knowledge that something untoward will occur during or immediately after the election? It is interesting that Evergreen offered its “services” — illegally detaining citizens and turning polling places into outposts manned by goons — nearly a month before the election.
