Obama Administration Plans a Return to the Foreign Policy of Clinton

As Michael Flynn writes, Bill Clinton’s Mideast envoy, Dennis Ross, may end up selecting all senior posts in a Barack Obama administration. Ross, characterized as a political “moderate,” who supported the invasion of Iraq, is connected to the Project for the New American Century and serves as a consultant to the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. PNAC and WINEP are neocon organizations. In fact, Ross was under the wing of the neocon Paul Wolfowitz in the Pentagon during the Carter administration and he was at Wolfowitz’s side as the neocons began their slow ascendancy after the election of Ronald Reagan. Ross was also a top Middle East adviser to Bush Senior.
An elderly woman killed while shopping for carrots during Clinton’s bombing of Yugoslavia. An Obama administration will signal a return to such war crimes and atrocities.
“Ross’ close association with neoconservatives has deepened over the years, becoming especially pronounced in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He supported the invasion of Iraq and, during the run-up to the 2008 presidential elections, repeatedly teamed up with writers from groups like the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) to craft hard-line policies toward Iran,” writes Flynn. He is associated with other neocons, including James Woolsey, the disgraced I. Lewis Libby, Zalmay Khalilzad, Michael Rubin, and the neocon ideologue Francis Fukuyama, who has attempted as of late to insert some distance between himself and the neocons.
If Ross indeed handpicks top foreign policy officials in a possible Obama administration, we can expect more of the same — more invasions, more mass murder, and possibly an attack launched against Iran, a bit of unfinished business left over from the neocon reign of terror during the Bush days. Ross told the Jerusalem Post the current policy toward Iran as one of “weak sticks and weak carrots.” He said the U.S. has to “be prepared to go outside” the forum presented by the United Nations and confront Iran.
As should now be obvious, an Obama administration will not differ significantly from the Bush administration or one by John McCain, who at this late hour in the election season trails Obama in the polls. Indeed, if we are to believe Trilateral Commission co-founder and top Obama advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski (see Paul Joseph Watson’s Brzezinski: Obama Will Face “Imminent” Foreign Policy Problems), soon after assuming office Obama may “start sending signals to foreign governments,” in other words Obama may begin issuing threats. One such threat was issued last year when Obama “said if elected in November 2008 he would be willing to attack inside Pakistan with or without approval from the Pakistani government,” according to Reuters.

In June, McClatchy Newspapers reported that Obama’s “new national-security advisory group … includes many of former President Clinton’s top advisers,” including former Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Warren Christopher, former Defense Secretary William Perry, former Clinton National Security Adviser Tony Lake, consummate insider Lee Hamilton, and others. “Nearly all these threats have grown over the last eight years because of the policies of George Bush, which I believe have left us less safe and less respected in the world,” Obama told his national-security advisory group.
Instead, we can expect a return to the days of Clinton, when 500,000 children were killed under a brutal and medieval sanctions regime imposed on Iraq, a policy completely acceptable to Madeleine Albright. “Clinton’s crimes range from ad hoc bombings to boycotts and sanctions designed to starve into submission, to support of ethnic cleansing in brutal counterinsurgency warfare, and to aggression and devastation by bombing designed to return rogues to the stone age and keep them there,” writes Edward S. Herman. Clinton bombed Iraq and Afghanistan. He bombed a pharmaceutical factory in Sudan and deliberately targeted civilians in the illegal U.S.-NATO bombing of Yugoslavia. “One of the notable features of the NATO-U.S. war against Yugoslavia was the gradual extension of targeting to civilian infrastructure and civilian facilities-therefore civilians who would be in houses, hospitals, schools, trains, factories, power stations, and broadcasting facilities,” Herman notes.
How emulating Clinton administration war crimes and atrocities returns respect to the United States is not explained. But then the idea is to once again fool the American public prior to the election, not institute “change” as advertised. Under Obama, the ruling elite will continue its agenda of terror and mass murder no matter the minion installed. The impending installation of Dennis Ross is a clear signal that as much as things “change,” they remain the same with the global elite in control.
