Care Net Blasts Pro-Abortion Attempt to Shut Down Crisis Pregnancy Centers

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A national association of pregnancy centers says it is not surprised by the relentless efforts of the pro-abortion group NARAL to target their working helping women find abortion alternatives. Care Net says the summer attack by the abortion industry is "just another attempt to shut down the competition."
Reacting to a news report from LifeNews.com, Care Net officials said today that they're disappointed NARAL is urging its members to ask two Internet directories to harm pregnancy centers' ability to advertise their services online.
In addition, abortion backers in Congress, led by Rep. Carolyn Maloney and Sen. Robert Menendez, have re-introduced a bill that would direct the Federal Trade Commission to set up new rules to regulate pregnancy center advertising.
According to NARAL's claims, pregnancy centers are falsely advertising in online yellow page directories under the headline "abortion services."
The group says it sent 59,000 signatures to YellowPages.com and SuperPages.com asking them to remove misleading CPC ads from their sites.
Care Net President Melinda Delahoyde responded, "Care Net pregnancy centers are consistently and thoroughly trained on proper and effective advertising practices. Deception is simply inconsistent with our Christian principles of honesty and integrity."
Delahoyde said Care Net pregnancy centers and all those affiliated with other national affiliation organizations, such as Heartbeat International and NIFLA, must comply with the principles stated in a document called the "Commitment of Care and Competence. That states: "All of our advertising and communications are truthful and honest and accurately describe the services we offer."
As far as directory advertising is concerned, there are different possible headings under which a center may list itself. "Abortion Alternatives" is the most commonly used and appropriate heading for pregnancy centers.
The Care Net official said that heading has been created by yellow page companies with pregnancy centers in mind and usually includes an accompanying description similar to the following: "Advertisers under this heading provide assistance and information on abortion alternatives. They do not provide abortion services, or abortion referrals."
As groups like NARAL attempt to discredit pregnancy centers, the women's leader says the public needs to understand the motivation behind the accusations.
"Consider the biased source, and do your own research," Delahoyde told LifeNews.com today. "Why would pregnancy centers routinely report extremely high approval ratings from actual clients if this were really going on? In many cases, their best form of advertising is from former clients themselves."
"What's happening is that pregnancy centers have become an integral part of a community's support network for women and children," Delahoyde said. "With such holistic support available, women are empowered to choose abortion alternatives and the abortion industry simply doesn't like losing business."
Neither YellowPages.com nor SuperPages.com have responded to a request for comment, but SuperPages has begun sending out a standard response to pro-life people asking that they not delete pregnancy centers' ads.
"Thank you for contacting SuperMedia! Business listings can only be requested to be canceled by the individual business. Please let us know if we can be of additional assistance," an email from a representative says.
ACTION: Contact the directors at http://www.yellowpages.com/about/contact-us and http://www.superpages.com/about/feedback.html and tell them to ignore NARAL's request to remove pregnancy center ads.

I Understand. You support the lies and deceptive practices of these fake 'clinics'. Surely, if their cause were honest, they wouldn't need to deceive women. Of course the CPC's are whining - they stand to lose the Fed money their scam rakes in.
Of course, they could stop the deceptions, and just tell women their agenda is birth at all costs, no matter the risk, but that would require decency and honesty. Those are qualities lacking in the faux clinic game.

How is a clinic voluntarily helping women deceptive and lying. It isn't. It's apart of compassion. I rather have people save children's lives than their body parts to be destroyed or sent into sick experiments (or in the black market). These clinics aren't scams. The real scam is Planned Parenthood promoted the evils of eugenics and today being caught in statutory rape scandals and the like. No one said that birth at all costs. People say that women voluntarily going into pregnancy clinics aren't evil. Also, the deception that abortion is similar to having a cold is a lie. It's a Christian thing to promote compassion. It's a Christian thing to promote truth.
It's a non-Christian thing to have the Communist dictatorships of Mao, Stalin, Hitler, and Lenin.
