New Personhood Video Reveals Medical Community 'United' on Life at Fertilization

The text books sited were quoted in further detail at Abort73.com. For example, from The Developing Human: Clinically Oriented Embryology, 6th ed.

Keith L. Moore, Ph.D. & T.V.N. Persaud, Md., (Philadelphia: W.B. Saunders Company, 1998), 2-18.:

"Human development begins at fertilization, the process during which a male gamete or sperm ... unites with a female gamete or oocyte ... to form a single cell called a zygote. This highly specialized, totipotent cell marks the beginning of each of us as a unique individual."

The website continued to list nearly a dozen sources that agree life begins at conception. While this seems to be widely understood in the medical and scientific fields, the public at large may not have easy access to this information.

"Abort73.com was created to give people a better understanding of what abortion is and does. Most people have no idea that there is a definitive biological answer to the question of when life begins. When the facts are presented, minds change," stated Mike Spielman, creator of Abort73.com.

Campaigns such as Colorado for Equal Rights will be attempting to educate the public on the humanity of babies in the womb, and in the process, continuing their signature drive for November 2008's ballot initiative.

Kristi Burton, spokesperson for Colorado for Equal Rights, commented, "Perhaps cutting edge videos like this one will make it easier for people to understand the true reality of personhood. For some, huge medical volumes can be daunting. My hope is that we can point people towards easy to understand information, and provide them with information from respected embryology books that prove that unborn babies are people."

Colorado for Equal Rights is a statewide grassroots organization of committed pro-life activists. Colorado for Equal Rights is sponsoring the Human Life Amendment to the Colorado Constitution, stating "(t)he term "Person" or "Persons" shall include any human from the time of fertilization." The Human Life Amendment initiative is currently working to gather petition signatures to appear on the November 2008 ballot.
