Ron Paul

VerbalGerbil says:
I can’t listen to ron paul after hearing his discrediting us truthers.
Here’s a good blog about tarpley’s critique of paul:
killtheempire. blogspot . com /2011/12/webster-g-tarpleys-critique-of-ron.html
Paul voted against helping Katrina victims yet writes earmarks in bills to get federal funded flood insurance for his district
In fy2011, he was one of four republicans to request over $137 million in earmarks for his district, a drop from his request for nearly $400 million in earmarks for fy2010, also one of the very few republicans to do so

_________

VerbalGerbil says:
he then votes against or abstains from the bill once he sees its dead in the water to maintain his voting record.
the beauty of bureaucratized political machinery, he comes out as a hero in his people’s eyes for requesting but then as a conservative in his party’s eyes in congress but after all, a spineless hypocrite politician of the exact same ilk he derides

___________

VerbalGerbil says:
On ron paul, he is a devoted fiscal conservative and voted against insurance money already in the government’s hands going to people who desperately needed it after the hurricane yet he makes sure people of his district still receive massive flood insurance entitlements. That’s district favoritism and doesn’t bode well for a presidential candidate, although it would precedented.
His writing of earmarks into bills that he then votes against shows an intial attempt to fund his district to appease them and then a vote to maintain a record for presidential primary voters who demand conservatism. That is a two faced, back stabbing move and is the REASON WHY RON PAUL LOST HIS OWN DISTRICT

Just because someone wraps the following in the flag of "liberty" doesn't mean it actually has anything to do with "liberty":

And whether you agree with him or not, Tarpley is genuinely convinced that that is exactly what Austrian School ideologues in general are doing when -- in the midst of a banker-engineered depression -- they advocate cutting such things as food stamp outlays by 2/3 or more while calling for only comparatively minor cuts in the ridiculously bloated war budget.

Case in point:

-- "The budget [by Senator Rand Paul] provides two years of war funding, at the President’s requested levels."

-- "The food stamp program and the child nutrition program" (cut)

-- "The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program" (eliminate)

-- "Affordable Housing Program" (eliminate)
